Dharmasiri willing to use prostitute in film
Veteran film director Dharmasiri Bandaranayake says he is willing to accommodate even a prostitude, if talented as an actress, in a film by him.
He was speaking to the media in Rajagiriya yesterday (22) held to counter website and social media allegations against actresses Semini Iddamalgoda and Lochana Imashi that they had connections with drug dealer Wele Suda.
Bandaranayake said that in this present society, even making a living out of prostitution, is impossible.
He stressed that with the existing unethical politics, Sri Lanka cannot have ethical artistry.
The film director recalled how the president has described certain media’s triying to kill him as he had taken a two day vacation due to a phlegm trouble.
A rotten society is today speaking about ethics, he said.
Nimal Lanza Appointed Wattala SLFP Organizer
Western Provincial Council Minister Nimal Lanza was appointed as SLFP Chief Organizer of Wattala Electorate.
Interestingly, Lanza came to the limelight once again early this week when he visited Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport to welcome the former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, several other organizers were also appointed. Accordingly, North Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara was appointed as Chief Organizer of Bingiriya. Ampara Mayor Indika Nalin Jayawickrama was appointed as Chief Organizer of Ampara (South).
Udayakantha Gunathilaka and Kithsiri Wijetunga were appointed Organizers for Dedigama Electorate.
Rajapaksa Fears Prosecution of Entire Family By new Government
Former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday expressed fears that the new government led by his successor Maithripala Sirisena might end up prosecuting his entire family, a day after his two younger brothers faced questioning by anti-graft investigators.
“Next, it will be Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa and Yoshitha Rajapaksa”, the former President said.
Namal — a Parliamentarian — and Yoshitha are Rajapaksa’s sons while Gotabhaya is his younger brother.
Rajapaksa’s comments came after he visited his youngest brother Basil Rajapaksa at the national hospital where he is warded under remand custody.
Basil Rajapaksa, the economic development minister in his older brother’s nearly decade long rule, was arrested on Wednesday by the police’s Financial Crime Investigation Unit.
He was accused of misappropriating 77 million rupees of state funds meant for livelihood development.
Rajapaksa said his family was being hounded by the Sirisena government on trumped up charges.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who served as the powerful defence ministry secretary, appeared on Thursday for the second time before the anti-graft commission as Basil faced his own interrogation behind bars.
The new government has pursued complaints of misdeeds under Rajapaksa’s regime and several top ranking officials have already faced prosecution.
Ranjan Files Complaint Against MR
Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake filed a complaint at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Ramanayake told media that he filed the complaint against siphoning of funds received for Tsunami relief. He added that since Rajapaksa was the Prime Minister at the time of the incident, he does not enjoy the immunity accorded to the executive president.
The Deputy Minister also pointed out that UNP MP Kabir Hashim had seeked judicial remedy in 2005. Former Chief Justice Sarath N Silva recently tendered a public apology for the ruling he gave in the ‘Helping Hambantota’ case in 2005, Ramanayake also recalled.
In October 2014, Silva confessed to BBC Sinhala Service that he had delivered a judgment favorable to President Rajapaksa in response to a petition filed by him and the judgment could be dubious. Rajapaksa had filed a fundamental rights petition in the court saying that there was an attempt to arrest and remand him in response to a complaint made by Hashim.
Ramanayake pointed out that it was high time that this case was investigated once again.
Sajin Vaas to be arrested ?
Investigations into allegations of irregularities by MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena during the previous regime have revealed serious instances of abuse of public property, say police headquarters sources.
On the basis of these findings, indictments are to be served against bhm.
Sajin Vaas also stands accused of amassing money through illegal and inappropriate means.
Taking up a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Front, the Colombo Fort magistrate yesterday ordered the CID to expedite the investigations.
The magistrate also ordered the department of inland revenue to submit reports with regard to 21 companies owned by the UPFA MP, who is one of the closest associates of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Basil Rajapaksa arrested
Former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa was arrested by the Colombo Financial Crimes Division a short while ago.
Attorney at law U.R, de Silva, Counsel appearing on behalf of Basil Rajapaksa. He went onto note that the B report is being compiled by the police adding that the former minister is due to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate along with two other persons.
Basil Rajapaksa appeared before the Financial Crimes Division on Wednesday (April 22nd) morning to provide a statement. According to sources the former minister was questioned from around 11 am to 5 pm. Basil Rajapaksa left the country soon after the presidential elections held in January and returned to the country on Tuesday (April 21st).

Vimukthi & Chaturika to contest
Vimukthi Kumaratunga, the son of former president Chandrika Kumaratunga and Chaturika Sirisena, a daughter of incumbent Maithripala Sirisena, are to contest the upcoming general election on the SLFP ticket, according to SLM.
The ex-president has given her blessings for her son to enter politics, and together with requests by Bandaranaike loyalists, Vimukthi is reconsidering his decision never to do politics.
A veterinary surgeon, he has also decided to open a modern animal hospital in Sri Lanka.
Chaturika served as the chief attendant of the wife of the Bhutanese prime minister during his recent visit to the island.
However, president Sirisena told a recent public rally in Polonnaruwa that he had no intention of bringing his three children or siblings to politics.
Roger flirts with Paba (Upeksha) - Video
Roger Seneviratne, actor and provincial councillor, hummed a tune to actress and MP Upeksha Swarnamali, aka Paba, which has become very popular in facebook these days.
That happened during the shooting of Kelum Palitha Mahiratne’s ‘Sneha’ tele drama.
Most have described this video of an instance in which Roger has flirted to Paba.
