The Attorney General today at the Colombo High Court indicted Rosemary Perera alias ‘Jeena Madam’ who is alleged to have managed a brothel at a leading shopping complex in Kollupitiya and four others who are alleged to have aided and abetted her to operate the brothel.
A 38 member team from the Walana anti-vice squad raided the brothel several months ago on an order by the IGP.
The daily income of a woman at the brothel was said to be around Rs. 75,000 and Jina Madam had got 10 per cent of it.
She had 10 apartments in the Liberty Plaza building, for which she had paid Rs. 03 million as rent per month.
The brothel had introduced packages of Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1.5 million, which also included food, liquor and accommodation.
Jina Madam is in remand custody in connection with a separate case in which she stands accused of forcing a rural girl into prostitution.
