An Army Major was admitted to the National Hospital after being allegedly assaulted by a group led by controversial minister Mervyn Silva's son Malaka at a five star hotel in Colombo last night, according to a complaint made to the police.
Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said a corporal who was with the Major at the time of the incident was also injured during the clash.
The Slave Island police have recorded a statement from the Army Major who charged that his official pistol had been taken away by the group.
