Ceylon Motor Show 2010, (CMS) the biggest event for the automobile  franchise holders in Sri Lanka will feature globally known automotive  brands, and will showcase a variety of new Cars, SUVs, Commercial  Vehicles and Motor Cycles, as well as classic cars.It held on  12-14 November at the BMICH in Colombo.
The Ceylon Motor Trader’s Association (CMTA) is collaborating with  the Classic Car Club of Ceylon to present a breathtaking array of motor  cars from vintage versions to the sleek lines of today’s modern  automobiles.
“With the participation of 14 leading car companies in Sri Lanka which  are franchise holders, of globally known automotive brands, Ceylon,  Motor Show 2010 will be a grand spectacle of the latest and most  advanced vehicle models to classic cars from the world’s major auto  manufacturers,” said Tilak Gunasekera, President of Ceylon Motor  Traders’ Association, who is also the CEO and Executive Director of  Sathosa Motors Plc.
Among the popular automotive brands that will be represented in the  exhibition are Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Toyota, Nissan, ISUZU, Suzuki,  Mitsubishi, Mazda, Peugeot, Tata, Land Rover, Honda, Daihatsu, Micro and  Proton.
In addition to the latest car models, Motor Show 2010 also had feature  Yamaha, Bajaj, Hero Honda and TVS motorbikes, and tractors. This is an  international motor show which displays motor vehicles not the  accessories, he said. The show is being organised following  international standards.
The Sri Lankan automobile industry is expanding rapidly. Irrespective  of the urban or rural demography, the requirement of motor vehicles has  increased due to personal and business demand. Sri Lanka has increased  diverse demand for all types of motor vehicle, where we see the latest  luxury vehicle running on Colombo streets.
Due to the reduction of excise duty on cars, SUVs and jeeps there is a  remarkable increase in the demand for new vehicles. Therefore, the time  is opportune for motor vehicle dealers to show case their brands at the  upcoming Ceylon Motor Show, he said.
The membership of the Ceylon Motor Traders’ Association comprises brand  new franchise holders. The Association was founded in 1919 and is  affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
The CMTA which is the third oldest Association under the aegis of the  CCC has a history of 90 years. During the 90 years, the Association has  taken various measures to develop, support, and protect the interest of  the motor industry.
