Moves are underway to procure defeated former President Mahinda Rajapaksa a seat in Parliament, a source in his Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) said.
Rajapaksa could enter Parliament and occupy the seat of a National List (non elected) MP who would be asked to resign.
The final decision will have to be made at a Council meeting of the SLFP scheduled for Sunday (January 11).
One of Rajapaksa's former ministers, Wimal Weerawansa, said at a Press conference today (January 10) that the former President had no desire to retire from politics.
