  6. Whoever who has posted these pics has violated her human rights. Udari should take legal actions against this. What she has done is wrong but ODEL has no right to kneel down this girl or to take pictures of her and publicize. This is totally ridiculous. Everyday ODEL catches so many people stealing but do they take pictures and give publicity like this? Just because she was a celebrity in this small country all these shameless frogs are gathering around to laughs. Look at your own sins people. This is so shame ODEL. Pathetic!

  7. i also think the person who posted this pics has violated her human rights. There is no right to do this kind of things to any kind of person. I actually have no idea about this girl Udari but the thing whoever done by posting these to the web is ridiculus and ODEL has no rights to punish like this, there is a law in this country, I totally aggree what she did is wrong. But we have to think about a her future.

  8. Yes i think too that ODEL has no rights to make this girl kneel down even though what she has done is wrong... But in one way its good that url posted this in web bcus then none wil ever attempt to do something lyk this ever again.. or the person who posted this could have atleast covered her eyes instead of showing her whole face..
    thanks anonymous..

  11. People who have condemned the posting of these pics are absolutely correct . The rest of you , go take a look at yourself in the mirror . As a country and people who unashamedly elect thugs , goons and rogues as rulers with no second thought and continue to worship them , this is a bit rich ! Obviously this girl is troubled and she needs help and she has also been punished by the courts for her misdemeanor , but to humiliate her like this is uncalled for and Otara needs to reign in her over zealous managers who have resorted to this nonsense .

  12. Let the authorities take action on the stealing. But ODEL has no rights to publish these pictures. She will get the return for what she did but this is ridiculous publishing these pics. Then what about the politicians who stael everything from the people of our country. Would you publish those pictures too???

  15. i absolutely agree with the people who condemned odel for publishing this pictures and kneel down and insult any person in this manner. This girl need counselling and treatment by physiotherapist.Even i know one famous hollywood actress cought for shop lifting. But they did not kneel down her and publish photogarphs but took legal action. There are more people steel our fortune in day light, specially our currupt politicions.People wake up and take action against those people.Let this girl get any punishment from the court.i personally sorry for her cos i know this girl is having a mental disorder.

Mrs.OTARA you must act as a human not like a animal...The way you and your staff acted was very very bad towards a girl even she done a wrong.I don't want to be a customer of you anymore because your image is not true as we expected from any business.try to act as humans in next occasion even...if it is not your ODEL will vanish in near future...remember it...i'll pray to it...

  17. Udari is just an airhead. I do not think anybody will take what she says or does seriously. We have seen this kind of actresses come and go almost every year and I am not concerned about what Udari has done or what is happening to her. It is not Udari but Otara that I want to talk about. The said act of shoplifting has revealed who Otara, who wants to project herself as a sophisticated, modernized, cultured, refined, elegant, civilized, urbane, enlightened, advanced, woman, is. Otara has no right to make Udari kneel down and by taking the law into her own hands, Otara, who believes that the society must be changed and supports such groups, who share the same ideology, has just disclosed that she is nothing more than an ordinary pompous woman who belongs to the pre-modern era. If Otara gets a chance to change this society, she will take us backwards. Otara loves animals but I think this is how she treats humans. Otara, who enjoys humiliating other humans, is clearly a pervert and a psychopath like her must see a psychiatrist, without becoming a burden to this society. Five finger discounts are a commonplace in retail stores and cerebrally challenged people like Otara, who love their feudalistic behaviour at the expense of other humans, should not be allowed to get their own way.

  22. Udari has denied the whole story (Read Silumina Rasadnuna) What a thick skin she has! She is not the type of woman that her fans assume. Some think she is like an angel. But she is really nasty. She is probably coming from an indecent family background.

  28. disgraceful people you who who judge and condem her. she's a clepto and its a sickness. she has money to pay and is not making odel bankrupt. so cant you people see. what all of you and odel has done and is doing is far worse. you are trying to distroy her. how would you like to be put in a pit and stoned to death for your crime. this girl needs attention and you are giving it to her. thats the cause for being a clepto. but but your attention is distructive and not productive or creative. you guys need a shrink far more than she needs one. THINK TWICE. OTARA - I THINK YOU SHOULD COMPENSATE HER for the doing of your management. i think they should be dismissed and delt with legally. you have a heart dont you. you care even for a stray dog. sure you can see this. thank's

  31. Udari is younger than Otara. That is why Otara is jealous of Udari. Otara might have been in demand some time back. But not anymore. Otara WAS a model but not now. She is an aging beauty whose period is over. But Otara cannot accept this reality. She is envious of all new comers. Otara cannot stand any girl who is prettier than her. Otara is a perv who derives satisfaction by humiliating any girl who is sexier than her. Poor Udari. I feel sorry for her.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is true. Beauty is only skin deep but what Otara is jealous about is Udari's skin which is younger than that of Otara.

  36. People are convicted and put in prison everyday. But the media still respect the rights of 'convicted' prisoners by not showing their faces.

Looks like people are falling into the plan of ODEL to deter others from shoplifting by publishing these photos of a young girl made to kneel down with clothes thrown at her. One can see the guilt and embarrassment she has in her eyes.

She deserves punishment and medical care if she needs. But the authority of the security staff at ODEL does not extend to making her kneel down and treat her in a degrading manner. the photo does not show a lady in the room along with this girl. even police are not entitled to carry out a search on a female without another female. ODEL should have let police handle this. By doing this I think the management of ODEL is guilty of false imprisonment, exceeding their right as 'a shopowner'. By releasing this to be published is a gross violation of all norms and ODEL must take action against those responsible for the release of these photos. Else it only shows the malicious intent it has against this lady which would be advantageous to her, in case she decided to sue ODEL for violation of her rights, despite her conviction for shoplifting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. She should be punished for stealing.
But these photos should not be published. Note that our Politicians are more worst than her; they are fucking rogues

  40. There is an organized plan to rescue Udari by attacking Otara. Otara has done the correct thing. Otara had no option than punishing Udari at Odel itself because nobody can trust Sri Lankan law enforcement authorities. And I am glad that Otara had humiliated Udari. Humiliation is an effective way of punishing offenders. It will act as a deterrent to prevent similar events in future.

One cannot say that Udari resorted to stealing because she forgot to carry her purse with her. Udari had Rs. 30,000/= in cash even when she was taken to police. (And the price of stolen articles was just Rs. 12,000/=) And it is not correct to argue that she did not have a plan. She had a well crafted plan before going to Odel. Didn't she remove security tags from the items that she wanted to take away? She planned it and was bold enough to execute it with confidence. Only thing was she did not have brains to understand the loopholes in her plan. It is a question of whether Udari is intelligent or not. Or whether she is educated or not. Obviously Udari is a dumb girl. But it does not mean she is innocent. She pleaded guilty in courts. After that no argument can save her.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Those who have visited Odel know why people tend to steal (from Odel). The prices are exorbitant. Even the richest of the richest cannot afford the extremely outrages prices at Odel. One should realize that even though Udari had stolen goods worth 12000 LKR, she had taken only four (4) pieces of clothing. A poor quality skinny is about 700, 800 LKR at Odel. A very ordinary blouse is priced for 3000 - 4000 LKR. Even a cheap looking t-shirt is about 750 LKR. Otara is simply trying to make easy money by hoodwinking a gullible public. I think everybody should make it a point to do as much shoplifting as possible at Odel purely to teach a lesson to Otara, who is fleecing customers.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This is sad...This has violated her human rights.. No one is perfect... that's why pencils have erasers..

    ReplyDelete
  43. Looks like someone is commenting continuously, trying to save the ass of Otara. This person seems to have elaborate details of the incident !!! Details which do not appear in this site, and details which only police or a person who was at the scene could have known...
Save it mate ... Otara's nakedness is exposed
... And I got to say its NOT a pretty site :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I also agree with that. This particular contributor, who thinks that he or she can defend Otara by posting nonsense in this blog, should learn that Otara has completely exposed her demeaning character in this incident. If Otara thinks that she can make a person kneel down by blackmailing, threatening and abusing her, further debase her by taking photos of her
even without her consent and finally denigrate her by publishing those photos on the World Wide Web for everybody to see then it shows what a
sadist Otara is. Otara's money is at work and that is why there is nobody to bring Otara to books despite her provable act of violating fundamental human rights of Udari Chamika Warnakulusuriya. (I do not want to talk about how Mangy helped Otara to purchase the block of land in Town Hall where the Odel store is now located.)

Udari is not the first or last shoplifter who got caught at Odel but the particular way in which Otara has treated Udari must be properly analyzed. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Otara, who gets insulted, annoyed and jealous whenever she notices a younger female body, somehow finds a way to screw them up. This time her victim was Udari. Next time it can be you if you are a pretty girl with a sex appeal. Be careful if you visit Odel. The best thing is to avoid Odel and keep your dignity.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Shop lifting is a criminal offence no matter who you are. If this was done by some other girl, would "you Udari lovers" act the same sympethatic way. I do not think so. If you do the crime you must do the time. I think ODEL has done the great thing by publishing these photos to let the wider community know about some so called celebrities. Would all you doo gooders give the same pardon for all the thieves and specially if that was someone stole your household belongings?.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think the above comment is really great. All those who spend their time in this blog to save Udari should respond to it if they want to establish their argument.

As the above comment indicates, those who blame Odel for humiliating Udari will be the first to take actions against robbers if something is stolen from them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Here the issue is not whether the fans of Udari will act in the same way or not in a different case.

The issue is whether Ms. Otara Gunawardena should be allowed to act in such a barbaric manner towards another human being.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It seems interesting how some certainly interested parties continue to haras Udari for some mistireous reason. Probably with Udari admitting to her misdeed and the judgement delivered, they are scarred - for, the trailer is over and the main show can commence anytime. Meaning Udari now can excercise her rights to bring a case for violating her human rights whatever her status in life may be. Otara and company knows what its cost will be in terms of name, fame and stock value etc etc. So Without trying to hide behind clear glass, its time Odel revamp its security policy protecting the rights of its shoppers while also protecting whatever there is for sale. No one will agree taking something belonging to another is correct(not even Udari herself - as she promptly admitted to her misdeed in public without taking defence of a cleptomeniac - what else is expected?) So how come someone steel Udari's human rights. She is a young human just begining her life ( also giving performances on the screen bigger than life). She has great promise in fact very few who can be parallel for how she potray human feeling in her acting probably, Aishwarya Rai + Anjelena Jolie = Udari. Probably even without Udari's knowledge she showed the results of a wrong deed to sri lankan society (Small, young & old) in her own way. Devine blessings will be with her for this, but not of "Man" women included (at least some of them).
Best wishes for Udari's future Life

P.S "Man" has to love another not by finding the perfect person but by learning to see the imperfect person well.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Those who argue that Udari's human rights have been violated should explain why Udari is not taking any legal actions against Odel and / or Otara Gunawardena. Udari has money. So if Udari wants to go to courts she can do it. Do not tell that she has no time because of her acting or she loves Odel or any other crappy excuse. If Udari (not her fans) thinks that her rights (whether they are fundamental or not) have been violated then she can seek justice. Especially because photos are also available, it is easy for Udari to prove her case. Without doing that, there is no point in filling this blog space.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well in think the photos are shocking!!! The comments of some are even more shocking !!! People, its not stealing that has been discussed by bloggers. Its the publication of these photos...I think there is a person (i think its just one) who seems to be replying in this blog with details who is now trying to justify posting the photos. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. So I think most would have formed one on the blogger who tries to justify this despicable act of publication of these photos.... with regard to Odel, now that its a public quoited company, the share holders (people can purchase shares in the stock market) can question this act of taking the law into their hands at the next AGM.

ODEL's expansion into places other than Colombo city shows the need to penetrate suburb market. If one feels she can stay away from ODEL and discourage others also to stay away.

And the person who commented last... i think it is not a waste of a blog space to talk of a crime committed by (a) subhuman being(s) who think he/they can suck up to Otara by posting these posts!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Udari is an actress and she has some fans. It is clear that her fans are trying to attack Odel / Otara in order to help Udari. But they do not realize that their heroine is a thief. Udari Chamika Warnakulasuriya is convicted criminal. (Very close to an IRC.) She has not been sent to Welikada because what she got was a suspended sentence. But it does not mean that she was not convicted. She was indeed convicted. Now she is a convicted criminal. Udari is a thief. A proven one.

So why do you bother about the rights of a convicted criminal? If you have time please bother about the rights of the innocent people. There are hundreds of thousands of innocent people whose rights are violated on a daily basis. Do you talk about them? Then why do you bother about Udari?

I am glad about the way Otara has handled this case. Otara has done the correct thing. It is really good that Udari was made to kneel down and pay for her crimes. Otara did not strip Udari naked and paraded her in the Lipton circus. Otara just took a a few photos of Udari. A little bit of of ragging. Why do you bother so much about it? Aren't there more alarming case?

    ReplyDelete
  52. There is no point talking about a (Crime) when the misdeed was accepted in the first instance itself and now a case where judgement is delivered.Different interpretations could only harm oneself. Now the perceived crime is another - Violation of human rights by a corporate entity against a living human being (Odel and its Gang of sadists - agents of the employer). The issue is now gone far beyond... Odel and its gang now trying to dictate their sadistic action is right to a by and large decent sri lankan society (who are also customers at large). So time is up to mellow down Odel's attitude problem. In comparison ODEL is just nothing in todays world - but bloated and egocentric. Better put house in order for own good. Have to get into one's system that nothing is permanent.

There are non so blind than those who refuse to see - or in this case who willfully preach their sadistic actions are correct very well knowing the greater "Violation" committed is by the Odel Gang against Humanity. Udari is only the victim of these people who themselves are blind to the real issues involved. One can not compare them to those 20 years ago with today's world where human rights are precious - more valuable than those of animals and Dogs. Sooner this is understood the better for everybody so concerned...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Niko goes to Hollywood
    Otara goes down the pallang

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh Yeah, the pallang will be very very deep it seems. Cos corporate responsibility has been over-ridden by autocratic behavior while being a public company. For Someone mentioning about fundamental rights and space - better recollect what happened in the cases where public lands sold for a song was re-instated. And as to "space occupied" if there are any similarities as the grape vine says, could also be in addition to a human rights violation.
See, the difference is here.. if a victim wishes to file a human rights case it is his/her choice excising their human rights against the perpetrator and not anybody else's interest. Some do not even have the faintest idea what human rights are. Oh what a mess. When violators wish to become Judge and the Jury, Lankans will show them their rightful place you bet. That they will understand and remember.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Celebrities are public figures and a problem that celebrities all over the world are facing is their fame and popularity. They receive publicity when they want it and also when they do not want it.

Media (in this case, online media) published
Udari's photos because she is a celebrity and since she is a celebrity, who has fans, publishing of photos has resulted in a public discussion on whether publication of them is correct or not.

In today's world people live in a media space and the society is affected by what media say and also what they do not say. As mass media are very powerful and especially electronic media, which include the Internet, are very fast, the impact of what is run by media has become a matter of concern.

If the photos concerned belonged to a relatively
unknown person, it is very possible that nobody
would care to publish them and even if they are
published nobody would bother about it. But when
the person implicated is a celebrity then the
    situation is not the same.

The photos, which show that Udari in knelt down
position, have angered some of Udari's fans but it is common knowledge that it is the very same fans who want to see all the photos of the celebrities who they admire even though the celebrities themselves do not want to publicize those photos.

The fans, who expect all moments of the celebrities be captured and published by media for the fans to see, get up set if the celebrities are not happy about the photos. This is human nature.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Clever and a learned letter.
But what is missing is who took those photographs and released them to the so called media when a case was pending to courts - and the resultant damage. unless Udari herself took them and released to the the "media" or the media themselves were inside. The violation took place by the deed of release of the photographs. No point trying to cast the responsibility of HR violations to the media when seriousness of the deed now becomes clearer to many.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I do not think a drastic action like making a person (especially a popular celebrity who is with civil power) kneel down (and being photographed) would happen without the knowledge, consent and approval of Ms. Otara Gunewardena, the CEO of Odel Unlimited. Therefore no amount of arguments posted in this blog will save Otara.

    ReplyDelete
  58. uuuuuMMMm, yes that view is logical. The media is only the vehicle like a missile without a guiding system. But one who loads the destructive forces to it and the guiding system, with full knowledge and intentions to meet ones purposes take full responsibility for all results to oneself and to the grieved now and for ever.

Now it is Odelgate = watergate. The more one try to cover up the deeper they get into trouble. Good case of Lessons Learnt all round. All parties included. Who knows..there could have been bigger trouble for this young lass in life's store otherwise, Hope she has also got her guiding systems in place now. Udari acted wisely post event- misdeed accepted and hopefully forgiven to herself. The other party can't do this because head is bigger than the soul thus blinded. Good for them

  60. Udari is one of the finest in the screen today. Very few to compare with. If at all Aishwarya Rai and Anjelena Jolie (Local names with held). Why some wanted to victimize her and put her down is only too obvious. She had everyone's support at the time of her greatest need in the last two months (of course leaving aside the Odel Gang). She has the devine blessing to continue her good work. She will be remembered as a successful and courageous human being by generations to come. Udari must face life as it presents itself. Live life to its fullest and be happy with no regrets of course with good values to guide you. Who knows she could be an Ambassador of goodwill one day.. Best of Luck

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think Ms. Otara Gunewardena should make a genuine statement about this whole affair. Whether the photos are authentic, if so who made Udari kneel down, who took photos, who leaked them to media, etc. I think if the allegations posted in this blog are true then Otara should apologize to, Udari, her family and relatives, her fans and finally the entire society. Also Otara should financially compensate for the humiliation that Udari had to undergo. It includes her pain of mind, damage to the reputation, etc. If the allegations are false then Otara should deny them in public.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ODEL has NO right at all to punish anybody. It is just a business and it's security staff can only detect, take the person in to their custody until law enforcing agencies arrive. I appeal to the HR lawyers to take up this case and punish the management of ODEL for this act.

In addition, the general public should refrain from visiting ODEL and should stage mass protests in front of ODEL to publicize this, without affecting Udari's dignity.

  63. Why do you try to save Otara? Are you afraid of her or paid by her? Do you think an employee of Odel would be bold enough to do anything illegal without Otara knowing? Anybody who made Udari kneel down and took photos of her without her consent did all that well knowing that in a lawsuit Otara would protect them.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Here we have to be genuine. We should not be hypocritical to expect Odel to behave in a manner that is different from the way we behave under similar circumstances. If we catch a robber inside our home how do we treat him? Do we keep him nicely (and even offer him a glass of drink) until the police arrive? Certainly not. Don't we hit him / harass him / attack him in all possible ways that we can? We do all that. But we expect somebody else to act in a different manner? Why is that?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Do you class youself and Odel in this way of behaviour. Have you not heard of Marks & Spencer, BHS or any other in that class. They too have security. But the difference is that they do not deal in this fashion that Odel and its Management did (While being a Public Company.

    ReplyDelete
  66. This is indeed a travesty of justice. We all know that justice does not prevail in SL as a whole. But Odel definitely does not have the right to take matters into her own hand. Otara herself is a know crook. Everyone knows how she came up to what she is today. I guess all that is forgotten now as she has the money. People should stop buying stuff from Odel as there are many other places in SL that sell the same stuff at more reasonable prices. Although what Udari did was shameful, she and her family should not be humiliated in this fasion. Only in SL can someone with money do this to another human being. What a pathetic country. We put our heros in prison and make big business people out of our retired whores.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Otara can not protect any one who did any violation. Odel is a public co and the workers and consultants are agents of the employer. Otara is CEO and she can not hide or put blame to her employees. She must have guts to accept the violation if she wants to protect Odel. She can not have the same mental frame of mind now in doing things like the days when Odel was a company travelling in the boot of her car as she has been preaching so eloquently in the past. Otara better listen to this wake up call. If she want to save her company now, make an unqualified apology. If there is no exit route and preference is to face hard realities in todays world , so be it. It is again a matter of choice for Otara and really its Management included.

Udari was Udarai. Now lets further see what Otara is really made up of.. as a human being and business-wise..

    ReplyDelete
  68. Get together and dont go to ODEL any more.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Otara is lucky she is in Sri Lanka. Other wise she will get sued and will learn her lesson. Name and shame otara. Hasnt she done any sin her life?

Let someone who has not stolen anything point a finger at this poor girl. I dont think we will ever find anyone. This reminds me what we know as buddhists. Those who sin will rot in hell.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I dont get it, why people are putting blame on otara.Udari did something wrong and shes punished for that.Otara never asked her to steal.Udari did it to her self.No one asked her to steal and get caught. She chose that pathway, so she has to face the circumstances. And just coz odel prices are expensive, that doesnt give anyone an excuse to steal!!!!! If its expensive, deal with it,and dont go there to buy clothes.. From when, did stealing become the solution.. So udari did something wrong and shes punished.

And i dont think otara has any reason to be jelous of udari...From what Udari did,i dont think anyone can be jelous of her.And she put herself in this embarrasement. Its no one else's fault. No one told her to go and steal, which is soo cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  71. People please stop cursing ODEL. i dont want any curses on ODEL, just coz she stole clothes, why should we suffer!!!!!... and why should we fight for her reputation. If she cared for her reputation ,she would have never thought of becoming such a five star theif..!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. please be serious. this is a matter in denial of human rights to "man" by "man". Udari only the victim. Odel will have to face consequences of its actions as much. Unless Otara wishes to set right the whole thing herself all over again. Going back to an act which has been decided by courts and harping on it again and again is continuation of those violations! - for what benefit?. Let this matter not take over Odel's next AGM. Otara after all a Sri Lankan Herself needs better councel.

    ReplyDelete
  73. The point here is not stealing. It is the publication of the photos!!

The girl who stole has been punished by Court. Only a court can impose punishment. No one else can. Just because it happened inside ODEL does not mean that Otara has the power to punish. This is clearly, one taking the law into her own hands. If Otara as the CEO/Head, thinks this is wrong, she must act to save the image of ODEL.
In my view this is dragging the society to an era of the law of the jungle.

On the same line of argument, if ODEL security wants conduct a strip search under the pretext that you might be carrying stolen underwear who is to stop them ? After wards they can just say sorry and let you go? Is ODEL security that powerful ?

This is totally out of hand.
Personally I have decided not to step into ODEL until a statement is made by Otara re.this issue. Till then I will also tell all my family not to visit the ODEL stores. I just wanted to share my personal opinion. Others are it liberty to decide for themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  74. look its ok to people to be upset when there most wanted have an issue. look people youll think this is ok? its not coz most of the people want to take advantage from some news, if this person who write to guardian can be one of this borukari's Family, friend or lover...
Dont worry people who belive in odel they will always will be there.

Odel never put any one down, what borukari did is bad, people who support borukari keep supporting her she need it. if you guys like to know the truth then go to gossiplanka that says the truth. also when people like to shine they want to make shout for nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. It seems Odel and every one in their band wagon are upset about the guardian exposure. Likewise their heroics need to be exposed in every place where there are human beings who understand and respect Human Rights. One must realize even now that movements are born only in situations such as this for the greater benefit of human beings. in the end normal human beings are made hero and remembered in history. In this case Udari is only the victim of human rights violations and continuing to be "Abused" (in the full meaning of the word according to the Oxford Dictionary). Can any one who writes abusively say what harm the victim has done to them personally to warrant continually being abused in this way. What kind of justice is this?

In history there are no righteous movements that were without adverse critics (due to lack of understanding or preservation of self interests). In fact they provide the fuel to move forward.

Hope Otara will at least in the end be enlightened to save her hard labored Odel.

Otara you need to think for yourself in the silence of the night in prayer and let ego go out of your window along with some of your outdated advisors...You will then see clearly what many already see as wrong..

Once Albert Einstein said " A correction can not be done with the same mindset in which the mistake was made.....

    ReplyDelete
  76. well if she had the guts to steal from ODEL, am sure she must be brave enough to face all this embarrasement. In spite being famous she took the risk of stealing.what was she thinking?
Its seriously sick, how she planned the whole thing and just steal stuff like that.

And if Udari never did such a thing, her photos would have never been posted. I guess she was just looking for some embarrasement. If Udari, stole from Odel, why cant Otara put her photos. If udari cared for her reputation, she would have never done such a thing.

so people just dont forget the whole cause for this scenario. Its Udar stealing stuf. She has a huge problem.

  77. Otara's propagandists should stop their hate speech against Mr. Raj Wijewardana, who is an independent, unbiased and objective contributor. He has studied this matter very well before writing the said article and he has decided to highlight this issue very because if the private organizations are allowed to wield power like this to harass the general public it becomes a serious issue in the society. Ms. Otara Gunewardena should be told in no uncertain terms that we have not yet privatized the police, judiciary and prisons in Sri Lanka. And Otara cannot do anything other than lodging a complaint with the law enforcement authorities. As far as this issue is concerned who is at fault is not Mr. Raj Wijewardana who pointed out the offence but Ms. Otara Gunewardena who directly or indirectly committed it. But as it has already been mentioned in this blog hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!

  86. The concerns of some who wish to have human rights safeguarded is well understood. But what is the use in making such pronouncements etc in a limited space. It is like someone shouting to one's hearts content in Piccadilly Circus. Likewise in this forum all this if at all has very very limited use - to inform only a few at beSt and be silent which is the Crime of the Good.

If this kind of human rights violations to be taken seriously they have to be addressed at the appropriate (proper) forum who will act without bias. Then there will be many to support and carry through on behalf of our todays society. Or else these worthwhile efforts will be drowned with the passage of time very shortly and all will be forgotten. The violators know that and are bidding for time.

Then the PERSECUTION OF THE 21ST CENTURY in the style of Odel Violating the human rights of Udari will continue with greater force in society tomorrow if not seriously checked today.

Let every Christmas bell that rings in otara's ears sound that she and her odel have commited a gross violation of the rights of a fellow human being. It cries to heaven for ........ for to them christmas is only an advertisement to sell...

For ALL others so hurt by the gross violation of human rights.... it is good they address the issues involved at the correct forums so it does not fade away into obliteration

Even the above contributor has not done much other than blogging in lankanstuff, it seems. However as the above two links (together with Raj Wijewardana's article) show that lankanstuff is not at all a Piccadilly Circus. It is almost like the Westminster Parliament! Everybody should thank lankanstuff for giving space to highlight this issue. It is primarily due to the publicity given by the bloggers here at lankanstuff that this issue caught the attention of the others and Udari got courage to sue Odel. Thanks everybody!

  88. Udari, you should now consider court action for violation of human rights, hope you understand why. Simply, your degrading photos should not be made public and otara must take full responsibility. Sure she is jealous of you but be strong, get good advice and do the needful. We all make mistakes in life but folks like otara must be made to go down and beg for mercy. Otara, you are a huthi who needs a good shot puke for sure

  92. It is really good that the victim has risen. Taking legal action is good but this is the responsibility of today's society against whom this type of violations have to be protected. it need to be done well managed with responsibility of all without Udari having to make it a lone battle at this stage. In short it has to be a well managed project on behalf of today's society against this type of behavior by corporate bodies or individuals.

Once Odel drove her to despair and now any others should not allow the same to happen. In short the legal action must be with best advise. Now the best brains on the matters of Human Rights have to be drawn in...with all respects to them and without emotions being allowed to take over!!just when Udari with devine blessings has got the strength to raise against human rights which is hers as well as all of us in todays society. Remember once in the race for justice there is no test run or holding onto breaks while acclerating!! Good luck everybody!

  100. Any person knowing at least an iota of what human rights constitute of and what constitutes Theft/Shoplifting (and also the rights and obligations of shopkeepers in the handling of such) will never keep on stating all such muck to an intelligent audience.Sometimes it is good to be ignorant or pretend to be so. It has entertainment value like from a jester in Otara's court of Odel while depriciating ones self in the minds of the general public. So no doubt why this person is so upset who sees Otara as a supper hunam being who can violate the rights of normal human beings. This type of thing should not be allowed to go unchecked in the interest of our society today and for the future generations. Odel cares for more for dogs probably because that's what they could understand. They in an elitist jib could even ask who are human beings!!!

  101. Udari was neither a popular nor famous actress before the Odel saga. Everybody knows that Udari did not have much fans then. Udari became a known personality only after her photos taken at Odel were published. Therefore Udari, who was a nobody before, is now somebody thanks to Odel. So Udari should be grateful to Odel. But Udari has instead sued Odel, which made her a celebrity.

    ReplyDelete
  102. This is another joke only the style differs. Talent grows with maturity and this, Udari will ensure - be sure of that. Not only that, because of the Odels mistakes etc. it will also make her an Icon of our times when she will champion safeguarding Human Rights from Now on. 112. She is a good actress who entertains the Sri Lankan public with her art. She is still a human with weaknesses like any of us. There is a sickness called kleptomania that makes people shoplift. If one has this they cannot cure that. I am sure Otara knows of this condition.

When someone has the power (like when one catches a shop lifter) has to have a bigger heart. If ABC perera was caught then no one will bother. When a young actress who has many years of future career is caught, knowing that it could ruin a reputation I wish ODEL had a bigger heart to warn and let her go.

While appreciating what ODEL is doing to the country earning foreign exchange, been a set up we can be proud of and showcase to foreign visitors) I totally condemn what it did with this issue. This does not mean that I condone what this girl did. Stealing is wrong. But how many in all positions in the country steal much more every day? I remember not so long ago there were accusations of ODEL defrauding customs by millions. Knowing SL customs I was sympathizing with ODEL.

It is natural that some people to be jealous of the looks and the talent of a pretty actress. Also some men to talk bad of a pretty girl as they don’t stand a chance of 'enjoying' her. Some women may feel hatred due to her looks. If one can get out of that mentality you will see that both sides are at wrong. Girl was wrong to steal, and ODEL has done a bigger damage by ruining a reputation of a popular person. I for one will not shop at ODEL at least for some time. I know that will not hurt a big business like ODEL. But I do not want to patronize an organization that talk of sympathy to animals but cannot show sympathy (or forgive) to humans. Everyone else who talk bad of this girl please think whether you have not done anything wrong in your life? If you have done something wrong didn’t you expect forgiveness than punishment and humiliation????
