Namal Rajapaksha turns 27.. Birthday Photos

Hambantota District UPFA Parliamentarian and Attorney-at-Law Namal Rajapaksa's 27th birthday falls last Tuesday (10).

Tharunyata Hetak organization has organized a Bodhi Pooja at Killinochcho Lumbini Vihara and a Hindu religious ceremony at the Killinochchi Hindu Kovil as well as many meritorious deeds to mark the occasion.

Namal  born on 10 April 1986 is the eldest son of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

He contested the 2010 parliamentary election as one of the United People's Freedom Alliance's candidates in Hambantota District and was elected to Parliament.

As a young MP, Namal Rajapaksa played a key role in promoting development activities in the Northern Province with his organizing skills. He took steps to promote welfare services throughout the country for the the benefit of youth. He played a vital role in establishing the Blue Brigade that gathered people’s support for his party before the 2010 General Election.

 

fatal accident on Southern Highway

A luxury jeep carrying a family of father, mother son and daughter to Tangalle for Sinhala & Tamil New Year holidays from Maharagama toppled over at the 14th mile post at Galanigama on the Southern Highway killing the father.

A.G.D. Shanaka, a 40 year old owner of a jewellery shop at Maharagama died in the accident while his daughter has been hospitalized with serious injuries. The son and his pet parrot escaped without any injury. 

Investigations have revealed that the businessman had not been wearing the seat belt at the time of the accident.
The vehicle crashed on to the center fence, was thrown away about 50 feet and toppled over the businessman who had been thrown out at the impact say eyewitnesses.

Malaka, Rehan discharged from assault case

The son of Mervyn Silva, Malaka, Rehan Wijeyrathne and 4 other suspects were discharged  today from the assault case of an Army Major on instructions the of the Attorney General.

Seven suspects including Malaka and Rehan were produced in court earlier for the alleged assault of Major Chandana Pradeep Susena and stolen his chain and mobile phone at Hilton residencies, Colombo late last year.

Earlier, the Army Major recanted his previous statement and said that he could not identify those who assaulted him.

When the matter was taken up for inquiry before Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today, Slave Island Police Crimes OIC Nalaka Gunasekera informed the Magistrate that they would withdraw the case against the suspects on the instructions of the Attorney General who advised police to withdraw the case.

He also told the Magistrate that the Army Officer Pradeep Chandana Susena who was the victim and virtual complainant in the case was presently attached to the army camp at Vavuniya.

Arrest warrant against cobra girl

The Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya has issued an arrest warrant against Danthure Nirosha Wimalaratna, aka “Cobra girl” for not appearing in Court today (04).

Nirosha Wimalaratne who was a dancer at a night club in Colpetty, was taken into custody on 28 August 2012 for keeping a cobra in her possession.

Nirosha fought back filing legal action and was successful in regaining her cobra and had returned to the night club with her cobra companion.

Teen arrested for getting 13 yr old pregnant

The Karuwalagaswewa police arrested a 19 year old for getting a 13 year old girl pregnant.

The police reported that the couple has had an affair and the suspect had fled the area after getting the girl pregnant. The girl is identified as a resident of Thabbowa, Pawattamaduwa.

The mother of the child has left her father when she was little. Therefore her grandmother and father brought up the child. The suspect was arrested after the child’s father and grandmother filed a complaint with the Karuwalagaswewa police.

Following the arrest the suspect has told that he had left the area to work as an electrician in Colombo. The victim has been subjected to a medical examination. Karuwalagaswewa police are conducting further investigations.

Pushpika Sandamali gone wild

Pushpika Sandamali de Silva is a model from Sri Lanka. She hails from the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. She was the winner of the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2011, following which she competed in the Miss World pageant in 2011 held in London.

Pushpika Sandamali De Silva is now in Egypt to compete at the Top Model of the World 2013 pageant. The Grand Finale held yesterday.

Pushpika, participated in a training stint in India as a lead up to the big event and left for Egypt last week. Since winning Sri Lanka’s most prestigious beauty crown in 2011, Pushpika has had a busy schedule.
