Popular actress Anarkali Akarsha who won after contesting from Galle at the previous South Provincial council polls United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) ticket has decided to contest the forthcoming South PC polls from the Matara district, government sources say.
It is said that Anarkali has been thus
transferred, as she has earned the displeasure of the public in Galle
after failing to do them any service since being elected last time.
However, Anarkali has reportedly expressed
her disinclination towards contesting from Matara as the one who
introduced her to politics - Mangala Samaraweera, is leading the UNP's
election battle in the district.
Meanwhile, actress Nadeesha Hemamali is to contest the election from Galle district under the United National Party ticket.
