SriLankan Airlines air hostess dies in Qatar
A Sri Lankan airlines flight stewardess met with a tragic death yesterday before she was to board the plane on a flight from Qatar to Colombo. She had been on a 'desert safari' excursion when the jeep she was traveling in had overturned, killing her.
The victim has been identified Ms. Ammendra De Kauwe from Raddolugama. Officials confirmed that six passengers were onboard the jeep at the time of the accident. One of them was the wife of the Air Force pilot who was killed in an air crash at Hokandara last December. She suffered a fractured arm and is said to be out of danger.
SriLankan Airlines CEO, Kapila Chandrasena said “we are shocked and deeply saddened by this news, and our first priority has been to be in touch with the families of those involved in this tragic accident and to provide them with all the necessary care and assistance in their hour of grief”. For the sake of the family members, the airline requests that all inquiries be directed to the airline.
