Lost Shashi Weerawansa found

Sri Lanka police teams today rescued a government minister's wife and several others who were lost deep in a jungle in the South.

Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of Housing and Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa, and a group have gone on a pilgrimage to pay homage to a shrine called Kebiliththa Temple deep in the Yala National Wildlife Park in the Hambantota district and got lost when their vehicle was stuck in the mud.

Reports say that Mrs. Weerawansa and a group had gone on a pilgrimage to the area in three vehicles.

 
The group who had entered the jungle  was lost in the Block 03 area and police teams were deployed from Paanama and Kotiyagala area to search for them.

The Kebiliththa Devalaya, which is located in the deep south region of Sri Lanka, is considered extremely sacred by devotees of God Katharagama.

Minister Rambukwella injured in Australia

Minister of media, Keheliya Rambukwella has underwent a swift surgery after having a fall at a hotel in Melbourne , Australia, yesterday morning (Feb. 06).


Reports say that the minister has received serious injuries after falling from the third floor of the hotel.
He has hurt his legs and received head injuries as well.

The minister was in Australia for a knee surgery of his his son – Ramith Rambukwella.

Yureni Noshika Birthday party

After winning the pageant "Models of the New Generation" hosted by Derana TV in 2006, Noshika was selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Tourism World contest.

After appearing in the TV commercials for Coca-Cola and Nestlé, she was asked to appear in the teledrama Kindurangana, a remake for the Sri Lanka television market of the Hindi television serial Kasam Se. This was a joint venture between Balaji Telefilms of India and the Maharaja Organisation of Sri Lanka. Based on the popularity of her role, she became the face of LUX calendar in that year.

Noshika was then invited to take part in Sirasa Dancing Stars and went on to the finals of the show. Thereafter she appeared in many TV serials such as Sandasakki, Ayal, Pingaladanauwwa. Noshika has been nominated as the most popular actress in both the Sumathi Awards and Raigam Awards.

Hirunika Premachandra to enter politics from SLMP

The daughter of slain presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra has decided to enter politics.

Hirunika Premachandra has sent a letter to the 28th anniversary ceremony of Sri Lanka Mahajana Party today (Feb. 05) that she would be engaged in politics under that party.

The late Mr. Premachandra was a founder member of the SLMP, which is an affiliate of the ruling UPFA.

In her letter, Ms. Premachandra says she has taken a crucial decision to follow the footsteps of her father.
