A journalist attached to NethFM radio has been assaulted by around 20 policemen at a private party in Mulleriyawa.
Nilupa Sanjaya Liyanage, who presents the ‘Belumgala’ programme, was rushed to Colombo National Hospital in serious condition following the incident last night (June 04).
Another person has also sustained injuries in the attack, allegedly carried out by Mulleriyawa Police.
Mulleriyawa Police are also accused of assaulting former UPFA member of Chilaw Pradeshiya Sabha Janith Deshapriya and three other arrested suspects.

The four had been arrested over an incident of assault of a policeman under the influence of liquor in front of Mulleriyawa Police Station.
