Case against Hirunika ?
President’s lawyer Hemantha Warnakulasuriya has informed the judiciary that a legal case will be filed against Hirunika Premachandra for dashing coconuts in front of the Hulftsdorp court complex.
The daughter of late politician Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra had dashed coconuts seeking gods intervention to punish the murderers of her father.
The court was informed of after Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis took up the case pertaining to the killings.
Objecting, Hirunika’s lawyer Tirantha Waraliyadde said that he would alert the international community if a case was filed against his client.
In response, the Magistrate informed that the judiciary was not intimated by anyone’s threats.
Tirantha Waraliyadde again requested the court to issue a warrant to arrest Duminda Silva but the Magistrate said that the court had already ordered to take the necessary measures pertaining to the matter.
He added there was nothing the judiciary could do if the orders were not being implemented.
Sixteen suspects in the shooting incident, which claimed the lives of presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others, were brought to the court today (22), and were further remanded until June 05.
Two others are out on bail, while MP Silva and Galaboda are yet to be arrested.
The case will be taken up again on June 05.
