Daughters birthday reunites Sana's family

The shattered marriage of Deputy Minister Sanath Jayasuriya and his former wife Sandra is no news.

However, the couple set aside their differences recently as they celebrated a happy occasion on Dec. 11.

The occasion was the birthday of their youngest daughter - Yalindi, who celebrated the occasion with her parents, family and classmates.

Sanath splurges SLC money?

It has been revealed that Cricket has footed the bill of the informal meeting of Select Committee head - Deputy minister Sanath Jayasuriya and Paul Farbrace, before the latter was appointed as national cricket coach.

Farbrace has come to Dubai on Jan. 7 - 9 during Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan as a result of Jayasuriya's plan.

Sanath had gone to Dubai to meet Farbrace who had come with his wife and the SLC had footed the expenses of all three, reports say.

The estimated expenses of the tour has been fixed by Jayasuriya who had also sought the permission of the SLC Executive Commission to do so.

The request has been readily approved by SLC Chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa who had also praised Sanath's efforts.

The expenses are as follows.

Air tickets for Farbrace and his wife - Rs. 139,720.00

Daily travelling expenses - US $ 300 (Roughly Rs. 39,000.00 X 3)

Accommodation - Amount was agreed to be claimed

Business Class air ticket for Jayasuriya - Rs. 137 200.00

Daily travelling expenses - US $ 375 (Roughly Rs. 49,000.00 X 3)

Sandra goes to Court to divorce Sanath

Ms. Sandra Tania Rosemary De Silva today filed a case at the Colombo district Court stating that she needs to get a divorce from the famous cricketer and MP Sanath Jayasuriya.

Petitioning to the Court, Sandra has also requested the Court to order him to pay 800 Million Rupees as compensation for her and for her 3 children. The petition has further requested two motor vehicles from the respondent, who owns assets worth more than 1 Billion Rupees.

Ms. Sandra has also made a request to construct her house at the respondent's expense. Ms. Sandra Tania is the wife of Mr. Sanath Jayasuriya's 2nd marriage and out of their marriage, a boy named Ranuka and 2 girls named Keshani and Yalindi had been born. Sanath Teran Jayasuriya, who was born on the 30th June 1969 as the 2nd son of Mr. Dunstan Jauasuriya and Brida Jayasuriya, played his maiden ODI on the 26th December 1989 as a rookie. Sanath is the only cricketer in the world who had scored more than 12,000 runs and taken more than 300 wickets during his ODI career.

SLC has become a Hot plate over a Comedy

Due to a comedy item presented by famous singer Sunil Perera at the Cricket award ceremony organized by a mobile service providing company, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Institute has become a hotplate.

Apart from this, another comedy segment named "Puss Wedilla" had also been included in the award ceremony and it too has become a hot topic for discussion.

The situation has broken out as a "top hand" in the Govt had scolded the SLC Chief that these items had mocked the Govt and the SLC.

These comedy segments had applied satire upon the recent Rathupaswala incident, SLC selection committee chairman Sanath Jayasuriya, SLC chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa, and the secretary Nishantha Ranatunga.

Rumors are going on that the SLC Selection committee chairman MP Sanath Jayasuriya had scolded the famous singer duet Bathiya Perera and Santhush Weeraman, who were in charge on the organization of the recently held cricket awards ceremony sponsored by a mobile service providing company.

The relationship between these singers and the SLC runs way back in time and it was them who had even organized the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) opening ceremony.

It was reported in the media at that time that they were paid 15 Million Rupees for that task.
