Green Field land fraud

Roshan Saman Ratnayaka alias Helgasan, a Norwegian national has been released by Puttalam Magistrate Ms. Bharathy Wijeratna on two Rs.10 million bail on charges of selling a 160 acre state land at Wanathavilluwa after partitioning it using a fake deed. 

Thousands of Sri Lankans, many working abroad  have paid millions to this company and now it is reviled that the deeds they gave for the lands are fake and have no value. Actually they have sold crown lands and same land to may buyers. This could be the biggest land racket in the country.

For about two years, they have vanished from their Colombo office and no one is answering to telephone.

But now , a local TV channel has found the person is living in disguise in Puttalam and still continuing his racket. As per the video broadcast today , the person is staying in the area with a team of private bodyguards, thugs.

He has sold the blocks of land appearing as a chairman of a firm known as ‘GreenField’ Plantation Development & Management Private Limited while some leading politicians promoted the affairs by their participation in the propaganda of the company. 

They have also presented the ‘GreenField’ with quality standards and Prime Ministerial Trophy was presented by Prime Minister D. M. Jayarathne.

The website www.greenfieldlanka.com of this company indicates details and it also advertises lands to be sold. The web site is still being updated.

Lakshman Hulugalle attempted suicide ?

Director general of the now defunct Media Centre for National Security Lakshman Hulugalle has been admitted to hospital after he consumed poison this afternoon (22), according to a very reliable source.He is being treated at the ICU of Lanka Hospital in Colombo.

The president recently dissolved the Media Centre for National Security of which Hulugalle was the director general.

Hulugalle has also been accused of having an affair of Sudharma Nettikumara, the wife of businessman Gamini Nettikumara.

 The media has been barred from entering the premises.

Later Speaking to DM Lakshman Hulugalle, denied reports that he had attempted suicide and said instead that he was at home and in good health.

“The media can’t kill me. I’m above the media. This is also another media circus. I'm at home and well. If I took poison I would be dead by now. It is the media who are making up this entire story,” he said.

When asked whether he had visited any hospital during the day for any other ailment, Hulugalle said that he did not have to keep the media informed about his visits.

“Why should I tell the media when I go to hospital or for what purpose I do so? I don’t need to do that," he said.

A/L 2013 results released

The Examinations Department released the GCE Advanced Level Examination 2013 results yesterday.

Amaya Mahatanthila of Eheliyagoda Madya Maha Vidyalaya emerged all island first in the Bio - Science Stream.

Abhitha Weerasiri Dias of Richmond College Galle was placed first in the Mathematics Stream.

Methsarani Lokuge of Devi Balika Vidyalaya  first place in the Arts Stream and Erandi Kanchana of Gampaha Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya first place in the Commerce Stream.

"The results could be accessed by logging onto the Examination Department website www.doenets.lk. The Examinations Department issued the result of Colombo school's candidates yesterday to the respective principals. "The result of other schools will be released today," Examination Department sources aid.

Geetha, Anarkali no challenge : Nadeesha Hemamali

Popular actress Nadeesha Hemamalee, who is set to contest the upcoming elections to the Southern Provincial Council on the UNP ticket, said today the two popular actresses Geetha Kumarasinghe and Anarkali Aakarsha, who represent the UPFA in the SPC would not be a challenge to her.

“I will not consider them as a challenge. It is the people who are a challenge to me. To me what is important or what matters is for people to accept me,” she said.

When asked for her views on land and police powers as laid down in the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, she said during her first election campaign she would not only answer that question but would also give good reasons for bringing back the 17th Amendment.

In response to a question by a journalist, Ms. Hemamalee said she would not consider the leadership struggle in the UNP as a big issue but that she believed in respecting the leaders as a matter of policy and said she would expect the support of both UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and front-liner Sajith Premadasa for her election campaign.

Nadeesha Hemamali to enter politics

 

Popular actress Nadeesha Hemamali has decided to contest for the upcoming Southern Provincial Council elections from Galle district under the United National Party (UNP) ticket.

According to sources from UNP headquarters -'Sirikotha', she has handed over the relevant application this morning (19) to the General Secretary of the party MP Tissa Attanayake.

She was handed over the party membership by MP Attanayake a short while ago.

Born in Ambalangoda to a family of strong UNP supporters, Nadeesha was educated at the Prajapathi Gothami Balika Vidyalaya.

Speaking a UNP spokesman said that Nadeesha has relations in Hikkaduwa, Rathgama, Balapitiya, Metiwala and Induruwa.

Accordingly, the UNP has decided to offer her a co-oganiser post in either the Ambalangoda or Rathgama electorates.

Nadeesha is a nationally acclaimed actress and her talents have spread to South India and she is also a film producer. Her teledrama prodcution 'Athkanda Linihi' received state awards for the best teledrama.

Earlier, actress Upeksha Swarnamali better known as Paba contested the previous General Elections under the UNP ticket.

Later she crossed over to the government and rumours claimed that she did so after obtaining a large sum of money.

Will refuse proposal from Dushyanth - Hashini

Dancer and actress Hashini Gonagala says she will not accept, if his male colleague Dushyanth Weeraman proposes to her.

She is responding to a question by a journalist whether she would agree to have a love affair with Dushyanth.

Hashini says she is certain Dushyanth will not make such a suggestion either.

She is presently busy with the shooting of the film ‘Ajasatta’ in Kolonnawa and Anuradhapura.

Rookantha family to leave for US

Veteran singers Rookantha Gunatillake and his wife Chandralekha Perera are to leave for US again, together with their two daughters according to sources.

They are to head to the States for their show 'Roo Sanda Rae Live in New York'.

The show will be held on Dec. 14 on Staten Island, New York.

The entire family is to sing at the show, reports add.

In a facebook status update, the couple's eldest daughter - Raini Charuka says that the New York show will go on despite any adverse weather conditions.
