Popular film and tele drama actress Kanchana Mendis made her maiden theatrical performance recently when the latest stage creation ‘Dharma Sangramaya’ was launched in Negombo.
Having played in a large number of teledramas and films, I was waiting for a chance to act on stage. It was really a novel experience and I learnt a lot on acting by joining ‘Dharma Sangramaya,’ said Kanchana Mendis.
The play, produced and directed by K. Saman Thushara, is scripted by Rohitha B Perera.
Starring Udeni Alwis, Kanchana Mendis, S. Nevil de Silva, Vincent Kariyawasam, Prabha Kumari, Ranshika Wimalasuriya, Gamini Fernando and Sudesh Nishantha, ‘Dharma Sangramaya’ is presented by Jana Pavana Cultural Group.
‘This is a political story depicting how the entire social fabric with its economy and culture is controlled by the political system. The play shows how the politician uses the social crisis to his advantage,’ said producer Saman Thushara.
