Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena found unconscious at Gatwick Airport

United National Party (UNP) Gampaha District parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena has been admitted to East Surrey Hospital after being found unconscious at Gatwick Airport in London on 13 April.

“He was admitted to the hospital and the doctors are still monitoring his condition. He seems to be stable for now with the medication,” Dinesh Kapukotuwa, President of UNP-UK branch said.

Dr. Jayawardena left London for a tour of Europe and was found collapsed at the airport, Kapukotuwa further told Janaka Alahapperuma reporting from London.

When I contacted the hospital on Saturday (14 April) afternoon, a staff member who requested anonymity confirmed that the Sri Lankan MP was admitted to one of their male wards and was receiving treatment. “His condition continues to be closely monitored by the specialist doctors at the hospital,” the member added.
