Hirunika complaints of death threat
Hirunika Premachandra, the daughter of slain former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra lodged a complaint at the Police headquarters late last night alleging that she had received credible information that a contract has been given to kill her.
“I have received credible information that a contract has been given to kill me. This was first revealed by the media and upon further investigation, I found out that the information was in fact credible and reliable,” she said.
Hirunika said she made the complaint because there was an imminent threat to her life and because she wanted further security. “There is an imminent threat to my life. I came to the Police to make them aware of the current situation which is very unclear to all of us,” she said.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis today ordered Inspector General of Police (IGP) N.K. Illangakoon to investigate into the alleged death threat received by Hirunika Premachandra.
When the case on the murder of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was taken up at court, the aggrieved party lawyers complained to the chief magistrate about the death threat.
The Chief Magistrate also ordered to the IGP to report back with the results of the investigation at the next hearing date on May 08.
