The period of bail for the two key accused in the assault of a former Army intelligence officer has been extended until January 28.
They are minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka and Rehan Wijeratne, the son of Sri Lankan ambassador in Turkey Bharati Wijeratne.
Colombo Fort acting magistrate Pavitra Pathirana took up the case today (Nov. 26), in the absence of magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne.
Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, lawyer for Malaka Silva, requested the case be put off until January.
Minister Silva was also present at the hearing.
