President turns 66
President Mahinda Rajapaksa turns 66 today, in addition to celebrating the first anniversary of assuming office of his second term. Countrywide events are taking place to invoke blessings for President Rajapaksa, who remains the most popular leader in modern Sri Lanka after he successfully gave leadership to the defeat of terrorism that destroyed the country’s peace and prosperity for near 30 years.
Here, the President greets people whilst arriving at an almsgiving held yesterday at Abhayarama Viharaya in Narahenpita, where Rajapaksa presented alms to 1,000 ‘kiri-ammas’ and ‘kiri-appas,’ evoking blessings for him and the country.
Happy B day Mr. President.
