President sends Hulugalle home
The Media Centre for National Security has been abolished. Spokesman to the president Mohan Samaranayake said the MCNS has been disbanded with effect from 1st of November.
Its director general was Lakshman Hulugalle.
The reason for this decision is said to be the transfer of 23 policemen who had raided the Salaka gambling centre.
By the way Talking to DM Lakshman Hulugalle, the Director General of the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said the Centre was not abolished only ‘defined’.
When asked whether he was aware of the decision, Mr. Hulugalle said, “Yes. I was aware of the decision as we had had discussions previously in this regard.” He said his post was still secure.
Mr. Hulugalle said the decision was taken because there was no longer a war situation in the country.
