UPFA candidate at southern provincial council election Geetha Kumarasinghe has come to sign nomination papers without a copy of her birth certificate.
This is despite general secretary of the
alliance Susil Premajayantha having instructed all candidates to bring
along three copies of their birth certificates.
Candidate Kumarasinghe had come empty
handed at the last moment, and had to go back home and return with the
copies of her birth certificates.
As she was leaving after signing the
nomination papers, a former councillor said she had not brought the
birth certificate as she feared the UPFA general secretary would get to
know her age.
