Negombo gets a modern Bus Stand

The modern Negombo Bus Stand Complex constructed at a cost of Rs. 220 Million was declared open by the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, today.  Funds for this complex have been jointly provided by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Negombo Municipal Council.

Construction of this 3 storied Bus Stand Complex was started in June 2010.  It has a space of 60,000 sq. ft.  There are Cinema Theater in the top floor 78 trade stalls a public restaurant resting and waiting halls 14 toilets for the public and 36 toilets for the employees of trade stalls.

This modern bus stand is also fixed with elevators, and a digital time showing arrival and departure times of buses, similar to the flights schedules shown in the Airport.   Nearly 35000 passengers are using this bus stand daily.

Several Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament  and Provincial Councillors also participated at this occasion.
