Nirupama Rajapaksha’s husband mobbed by pro LTTE activists in Thamilnadu
The husband of deputy minister Nirupama Rajapaksa has been mobbed by pro LTTE activists at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.
Returning home this afternoon (Jan. 10), Thirukumaran Nadesan spoke to journalists at the Katunayake airport and refuted Indian media reports that he was attacked by the mobs.
He said that as he was leaving after a pooja at Ramanathaswamy Kovil, he was surrounded by around 40 Naam Thamilar Iyakkam activists wearing T shirts with the picture of slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.
They had raised black flags and demanded him to leave Tamil Nadu, he said, adding that police prevented any bodily harm to him.
Mr. Nadesan said he as well as his parents and relatives have been participating in pooja at this Kovil for the past 25 years.
According to Indian media, Rameswaram police are investigating the incident.
