A protest took place this afternoon (Feb. 13) against the principal of Denzil Kobbekaduwa Vidyalaya in Galle.
A group of students and their parents participated in the agitation.
They alleged the principal had denied the right to education of 27 children.
These children had previously been students of the now closed Uragaha Yatagala Vidyalaya in Karandeniya.
Despite instructions by educational authorities, the principal had disregarded these students and instead admitted others at the instigation of area politicians.
He had also told the parents that the students would be enrolled if a sum of Rs. 15,000 was given to him per student.
