SLTB raises fares
The Sri Lanka Transport Board raised its fares at midnight yesterday (Feb. 14), said the National Transport Commission.
Normal services will have a 20 per cent increase in the fares, while the fares of semi, luxury and super luxury services have been upped to 1.5-fold, 2-fold and 3-fold of the normal fares.
The NTC said therefore, the annual bus fare revision due on July would not take place.
There will be no increase in train fares, said the Transport Ministry.
Private bus fares were raised yesterday by 20 pc, with the minimum fare increased to Rs. 9.00.
