More foreign women engage in prostitution in Sri lanka

An increasing number of foreigners are arriving in the island to engage in prostitution and other illegal activities, said the Department of Immigration.

Chinese and Indian nationals, who arrive on tourist visas, have become a big problem as they engage mainly in selling clothes, mobile phones and electrical appliances and in producing jewelry in the east.

Also Nigerians in financial scams and Pakistanis in drug trafficking has aggravated the situation.
During recent raids, 100 such foreigners, including 15 Chinese, had been nabbed.
Chinese and Uzbek women have also been arrested while engaged in prostitution.
