7,400 dengue patients and 29 deathS in the first three months
Health authorities have reported 7,400 dengue patients and 29 deaths due to the mosquito borne disease in the first three months of this year.
Quoting the epidemiology unit of the Health Ministry, news.lk says 3,892 patients were reported in January, followed by 2,978 in February and 530 in the first 10 days of this month.
More than 51 per cent of the prevalence of dengue has been in the western province.
Meanwhile, additional secretary to the ministry Dr. Palitha Mahipala said Rs. 300 million has been set aside for dengue prevention efforts this year.
A weeklong mosquito breeding prevention campaign was held from January 16 this year.
