National museum broken
Robbers broke into the Colombo National Museum last night (Mar. 16) and got away with several artifacts, said police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana.
Cinnamon Gardens Police have received a complaint regarding the robbery.
A sword, gold coin and several rings were stolen from the second story of the museum building.
The robbers had removed tiles from the museum roof and got into the building with the aid of a rope, police said.
Police, with assistance from the CID, are investigating the robbery.
